Solihull Jazz Festival visits The Core

Solihull Jazz Festival events in and around The Core.

The Solihull BID Solihull Jazz Festival is BACK for 2022 bigger and better than ever from Thursday 14th - Sunday 17th July.

There are events happening all across Solihull town centre, and we're very excited to announce that two performances will be taking place in and around The Core.

Both sessions are free to attend, and don't need to be booked, so come along and listen to some fantastic music.

Friday 15 July 2-4pm, Encore - B.D. Lenz (USA)

Enjoy lunch in our Encore café to the tunes of B.D. Lenz. New Jersey native B.D. Lenz is a guitarist whose style fuses the music of Pat Metheny, Mike Stern and Stevie RayVaughan. His versatility shows in his appearances in everything from orchestra pits to small combos, even accompanying an Elvis impersonator! His own music can be found on 12 acclaimed albums.

'Part of the reason for his accessibility is that he not only fuses Jazz and Rock, he complements it with warm chords of funk, soul nd rhythm and blues'

Saturday 16 July 1-3pm, Theatre Square - Ajay Srivastav and Vinod Kerai

Just outside The Core in lovely Theatre Square, sit in the sunshine and relax with a performance from Ajay Srivastav and Vinod Kerai. Ajay Srivastav is a critically accliaimed blues musician who reflects the lessons learned as a British-born artist of Indian heritage. His unique rootsy guitar style is layered with inflections of sitar and sarod and shows the ability to merge scales and techniques from classical Indian music with Delta blues slide playing. Both his albums Karmic Blues (2019) and Powerless (2021) topped the Amazon Blues Chart and received a host of award nominaions. Ajay will be joined onstage by renowned British tabla player Vinod Kerai.
