Henry's Blueshouse - Chickenbone John & Ricky Cool

Laid-back Blues night in the Studio

Solihull Henry's Blueshouse nights take place in the relaxed atmosphere of our ground-floor Studio at The Core Theatre. Music starts around 8pm but is preceded by a Q&A with the performers. Chickenbone John returns to The Core in this great new show, where he'll be joined by the one-and-only Ricky Cool!

Chickenbone John

Chickenbone John is Smethwick’s king of the Cigar Box Guitar, delivering raw, pure blues! Chickenbone John has been playing and making cigar box guitars for over 10 years. He made his first guitar at the age of 14, played in a punk band back in the '70s and had a record played on John Peel's Radio 1 show. In more recent years, John has organised the UK cigar box guitar festival - the centre of a whole new home-grown music phenomenon, and taught Cigar Box Guitar "Make and Play" workshops to thousands of people, all whilst continuing to gig and play at venues across the country!

Ricky Cool

Ricky’s reputation for delivering great, danceable music precedes him! Ricky has toured with the likes of Billy Connolly, shared a stage with George Harrison and played alongside Robert Plant. Not to mention fronting one of Birmingham’s most popular combos, the legendary Ricky Cool and the Icebergs.
