There are lots of fun family activities, shows and workshops at The Core over the summer holidays to keep the whole family entertained.

Music-loving children will love the Sing - Wicked workshop (10am-1pm on 23 July for ages 7-11, 24 July for ages 11-16). You’ll learn songs from the hit musical Wicked while learning how to use your voice, and make some friends along the way!

Bhangra Tots Storytime is perfect for little ones aged 2-6. Listen to fun stories, meet some puppet friends and get up and have a dance in four different Bhangra story adventures – Pirates Adventure (29 July 11am-12pm), Rumble in the Jungle (29 July 2-3pm), Epic Dinosaur Adventure (7 August 11am-12pm), and Space Adventure (7 August 2-3pm).

Create, direct and star in your own film with Young Film Makers (One day workshops on 5 and 26 August for ages 7-11, two day workshop on 31 July-1 August for ages 11-16). Have fun and gain skills including script writing, using digital film cameras and setting up sound and lighting!

Unleash your creativity with our fun & welcoming theatre workshop, Play in a Day (10am-4pm on 21 August for ages 7-11, 22 August for ages 11-16. Play games, collaboratively tell stories, learn theatre techniques and work together to create an exciting new play in a day with a professional actor and theatre maker!

Cinema lovers will welcome the return of film screenings to The Core Theatre, and there will be a season of family films throughout the summer holidays to keep youngsters entertained.  Screenings are on Thursdays at 2pm and include The Wild Robot (31 July), A Minecraft Movie (7 August), The Little Mermaid (14 August), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (21 August) and Dog Man (28 August).

Wrestling fans rejoice - Megaslam Wrestling is coming to The Core Theatre on Saturday 2 August at 3pm! Watch the stars of Megaslam enter the ring on stage in a family entertainment extravaganza not to be missed!

The Core Library will be running a range of free library activities throughout the holidays, including quizzes, crafts, and story writing. The ever popular Summer Reading Challenge returns, with this year’s theme being ‘Story Garden’. Take the challenge and read books to earn stickers, a certificate and the chance to win some great prizes!
