Classes and courses at The Core – starting in April!

Our popular range of classes and courses is now on sale for the summer term – be inspired by a variety of creative activities for all ages, including art, acting, photography, writing and even DJ’ing! Plus, get moving with weekly fitness and dance classes like yoga, pilates, ballroom dancing and more.

Professional journalist Wersha Bharadwa leads a range of writing courses for children & adults. Her Creative Writing course (Mondays from 20 April) teaches a range of skills and techniques to make your writing stand out, with exercises, workshops and constructive feedback in a small and friendly group. More experienced writers can join The Write Space (Wednesdays from 22 April), a rolling course for aspiring authors to share their work and develop their creative ideas further.

Young Solihull Writers (Wednesdays from 22 April) is a creative writing course for children aged 7-11 to unlock their awesome imagination in a relaxed and welcoming environment, while Solihull Teen Writers Academy (Mondays from 20 April) is a fun, friendly and inclusive course where young people aged 11-15 can find their unique voice and unleash their creativity!

Looking for standalone workshops to help restore and nourish your creative energy? New for this term is The Writing Well (Wednesdays from 15 April), a weekly writing class with a focus on wellbeing led by published author Anna Lawrence. Each workshop draws on approaches that help make writing feel less daunting and more playful, designed to help writers grow in creative confidence. 

Learn to DJ (Wednesdays from 22 April) is open to both young people and adults! Led by professional musician and DJ Sophielou, this course is perfect for music lovers of all ages who want to learn the art of DJ’ing, including how to use a DJ controller and smoothly mix two songs together. Choose from a beginners or intermediate class for ages 10-16, or the adults’ class for ages 18 and up.

The highly successful Core Youth Theatre (Thursdays from 23 April) is a fantastic opportunity for children and young people to develop their theatre skills and creativity in a fun, and engaging environment. Choose from groups for ages 7-10 or 11-16. 

For adults wanting to learn about and explore acting, Introduction to Acting (Thursdays from 23 April) will develop your acting skills in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. This course includes group exercises, drama games and improvisation, along with a range of approaches to acting techniques. Also on Thursdays, Audition Technique and Preparation will help budding actors learn audition techniques, refine their skills and workshop a full audition with hands-on support. 

Light 52 Photography – Advanced (Thursdays from 23 April) is a follow-on photography course for amateur photographers looking to take their skills to the next level, with encouragement to create a portfolio.
